Kerwa Dam
A green escape on the city's south-western edge — forest roads and a reservoir that fills up in the monsoon.
Representative photo≈ 20 km from Bhopal
Kerwa is a short ride out of Bhopal through wooded country, which makes it a favourite for quick half-day outings, especially after the rains when the reservoir and the surrounding forest are at their best.
Travel notes
Roads around the forest edge can be narrow and poorly lit. Plan to be back before dark.
Road safety
Wet roads in the monsoon carry mud and leaves — reduce speed on bends. Wildlife may cross forest roads.
Rules, permits and access
Respect any restricted or protected areas and do not enter closed zones around the dam.
